Twilight is part of a more recent body of work that explores the light and organic rhythm of repeated forms - tree trunks and branches – that populate the dense ancient woodlands of Kent. This series of photographs document the artist’s ‘hunt for sunbeams’. At dusk, Pernille would venture into the woodland with her camera, searching for, and collecting, those magical moments when dark areas of forgotten woodland are singled out, transformed, and brought to life by the intense and concentrated low beams of golden sunlight that sometimes characterise the twilight hour. With a touch of melancholia, the photographs reflect these brief moments of magic revelation, wonder, and joy before they vanish and retreat into indistinct darkness again.
